What is Mental Health Awareness?
Mental health awareness allows us to generate continuous discussions about mental health concerns in a way that eliminates the shame and negative attitudes that hinder individuals from getting help. Through legislation, awareness events, and calendar recognitions, more space is made for safe conversations. Mental health awareness also includes sharing of individual stories and experiences to help educate and empower others, and means acknowledging and accepting the seriousness of the role mental health plays in society. Showing people they are not alone and helping them navigate through their personal experiences benefits everyone.
